FLI Civic Type SPLAny car that is so loud it smashes a windscreen gets respect in my book, but this Civic Type SPL by FLI gets double the amount of respect due to how ludicrously cheap the booming install is! |

Built to show that FLI products can drop low and pound bass with the best of them the Civic Type SPL has been loaded up with four of the 15” FLI Frequency subwoofers – in a massive slot ported enclosure. The total volume of the enclosure is a whopping sixteen cubic feet (that’s the equivalent of 453 liters!) and the giant slot port situated in the middle of the box is tuned to an eyeball wobbling 35 hertz. It takes over the entire boot and also where the back seats used to sit – creating an imposing wall of subwooferage which looks as loud as it sounds. |

Power wise, each of the subwoofers has been hooked up to a FLI Loaded 1000m amplifier – shoving 500 watts RMS of pure music power up their rear ends. With this amount of power on tap it’s no wonder windscreens are proving to be fragile items! All new for 2008 the FLI Loaded amplifiers certainly look the part and the rack of amps installed in the rear of the Civic looks cooler than a polar bears proverbials. |

It’s not all about the bass though, the FLI Civic has been hooked up with some of the fantastic (and award winning) FLI Components in the front doors. Each door is home to a five, six and eight inch main driver, partnered with two one inch tweeters. This gives a crisp clear sound that really does well to keep up with the massive amounts of bass produced. The components are helped out by five sets of the Integrator 6x9s (again another award winning item in the FLI range!), two of which are in the wall behind the seats while the other three pairs are installed either side of the amp rack in the boot. These help to throw the sound a long way – perfect for all the events the car attends. |

With all that ICE making the Civic sit strangely it was time to bin the standard suspension. A set of Eibach coilovers were sourced to help balance things up and to help keep everything on the road. These have been dropped as low as possible over the 18” Rota P1 rims which are perfect for the JDM stylings of the vehicle. The outside was completed with some official Honda Racing graphics. |
